Mountain lions range in many areas of California such as the Mystic Lake region and the Ana mountains, about half of California is known as mountain lion country. Mountain lions are very important for the ecosystem, they hunt deer and other wildlife. A mountain lion is also known as a puma, cougar or a panther. Their appearance is tawny-colored with black tipped ears and a long tail. Males may be as long as 8 feet or more, and weight between 130-150 pounds. Females are generally about 7 feet long and weight between 65-95 pounds.
Mountain lions at times can be seen roaming urban areas of the region. They tend to travel down from their habitat because of lack of food, seeking of better shelter for their cubs, or simpliy just because of curiousity. Many people see mountain lions as a threat which if they feel threathen by you this can be true. In my opinion mountain lions are a valuable part of the life cycle and should have they're rights too.
